A very small percentage of people who use drugs are addicted and an even smaller percentage of our population are violent. Prescription drug and alcohol abuse effect more lives than all illicit drugs combined. Alcohol makes domestic violence 8xs more likely; marijuana does not
according to a 2003 study. There is a link between pharmaceutical
psychotropic drugs and violence including school violence!

The majority of us are peace loving, responsible citizens.

Last year across the US 40% of the murders, almost 60% of the rapes and about half of the aggravated assaults went unsolved! The cumulative effect of this is horrendous. While we waste precious resources policing individual recreational and medicinal use of drugs; murderers and violent sexual predators roam free.

Abstinence from recreational drugs is safest for all, especially youth but
few will choose it. Parents do need to set an example for their children.
However, most parents who use drugs and alcohol do not abuse them. They are responsible drug users, especially marijuana users as it is the safest choice.

"We're patients not criminals. Go away DEA!" was the chant of protesters while the DEA raided a cannabis dispensary and Dean Becker, Producer - Drug Truth Network recently captured it all for you on video.

"We need to repeal the whole war on drugs," said our next president, Ron Paul. "This is a disease, not a crime." We will do a better job preventing overdose deaths, of keeping intoxicated folks off the road and our children drug free with compassionate policy offering helpful treatment.

If you research it you will find that there were few overdose deaths before prohibition. New Mexico recently passed legislation to protect Good Samaritan 911 Calls (for alcohol and drug overdose cases) from "drug crime"prosecution. Many European countries have had similar policy for decades.

Celebrate our similarities; instead of prisons, build bridges of tolerance to differences in religion, race and lifestyle. Change to a more compasionate policy about rehabilitating all but the most hardened. God Himself does not propose to judge a man until he is dead. So why should we? Except to protect our selves from violence or fraud we could adopt a policy of live and let live.

DNA testing has shown our judgment to be totally unreliable! In case after case corruption or ineptness has found innocent people guilty of murder and allowed the real predator to roam free. So many of the incarcerated are mentally ill, nonviolent drug offenders or the innocent; very few should be in prison!

Restore justice in America; construct science based drug policies about
saving and rehabilitating instead of ruining lives. Get tough on violent crime; warriors can get their adrenaline rush catching murderers and violent sexual predators. Many of whom we know are out there, somewhere. Then our peace keepers will truly be making our neighborhoods safer.

Sign up now for The International Drug Policy Reform Conference! It is the world's principal gathering of people who believe the war on drugs is doing more harm than good. No better opportunity exists to learn about drug policy and to plan and mobilize for reform. This year's conference will be held December 5-8 at the Astor Crowne Plaza in the legendary French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Please act now to help us remove a clause from a pending Energy Bill that could force taxpayers to underwrite construction of an unknown number of new nuclear power plants. Instead, the bill should fund the renewable and efficiency technologies that can solve global warming, guarantee a secure economy, and create millions of jobs.
