Big government lies to us and plays on our fears to make us more agreeable to their waste of our precious lives and resources. Perhaps you thought Uncle Sam was a benevolent spirit but the truth is throughout history, big government has caused more harm than good; often hiding tyranny under the guise of good intentions.
Our Founders knew big government would always mean a gang of evildoers and were not into forcing people to be good, they were into self-government and instituted the people are grand and government is small plan! They separated church and state to keep the government out of moral issues. Yet, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of '76 is still our true north.
The Almighty Creator is the source of all creativity. Our individual dreams, the American dream and all dreams of freedom around the world come from our source. What kind of life, what kind of world do we want to create? Focusing on the true nature of creativity as a spiritual issue, not an ego issue, can help us transform ourselves and our world. This simple shift in focus creates the nurturing atmosphere needed to work together to overcome obstacles and solve problems.
Since time began people have found ways to alter their conscienceness. In primitive societies psychoactive plants were sacred and ingested with care, with supposed spiritual intent, but use was often limited to a corrupt powerful few who used fear and superstition to control the masses.
Today to celebrate, to relax, to just feel better, to live without pain, fear, uncertainty, depression and doubt we use our favorite legal or illegal drug. Nationally, globally, enmasse, we are a High Society!
"DRUGS R US!" according to Jack Cole a founding member of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition. "Despite all the lives we have destroyed -- the trillions in tax dollars and the 37 million arrests for nonviolent offenses -- today illicit drugs are cheaper, more potent and far easier to get than they were 35 years ago at the beginning of the war on drugs."
The real danger to society is prohibition.
It triggers violence in our
streets and across our borders. The drug war fuels corruption of public
officials and injustice in our courts. The statistics reveal that racism is
epidemic in the drug war. It's the elephant in the living room being ignored
this election year.
Problems don't go away just because the government makes them illegal; they just go underground. Then a black market creates worse problems; since sellers cannot rely on police to protect their property, they arm themselves and form gangs. The more despicable sellers recruit minors to sell to their peers, charge monopoly prices and kill the competition. Some buyers steal to pay the high prices.
It is the 75th Anniversary of the repeal of alcohol prohibition on December 5th. LEAP has kicked off the We Can Do It Again project by calling for an end to drug prohibition.
For the next two weeks, you can send a letter to your members of Congress and state law makers. Please act now and please post or forward this link to as many people as you can! As always, thank you for supporting LEAP.
"Is President-elect Barack
Obama going to commemorate Repeal Day
today? I'm not holding my breath. Nor do I expect him to do much to reform
the nation's drug laws apart from making good on a few of the commitments
he made during the campaign: repealing the harshest drug sentences, removing
federal bans on funding needle-exchange programs to reduce AIDS, giving medical
marijuana a fair chance to prove itself, and supporting treatment alternatives
for low-level drug offenders." Ethan
Nadelman, executive director of the Drug Policy Alliance.
Shame on leadership that failed to remove federal bans on funding needle-exchange programs to reduce the spread of AIDS. Providing addicts with clean needles and making condoms available to prisoners is safer for us all. Almost half of HIV-infected State prison inmates at end of 2004 were in New York, Florida and Texas.
Supervised injection sites have revealed many positive outcomes: a decrease in needle-sharing, public injections and publicly discarded syringes, and increased use of detoxification and treatment services. The research suggests a lack of negative outcomes: including no apparent increase in crime near the site and no increase in new drug users.
We are looking for a Commander and Chief of Peace. President-elect Obama, must be encouraged to be fearless and courageous, a very uncommon commodity in politics. He must be educated so he will not make the mistake that Bill Clinton did and install a drug czar who will ignore science and push dogma.
"Who President-elect Obama nominates and appoints to key cabinet and senior White House jobs are strong indicators of where he may likely go regarding cannabis laws." cautions Allen St. Pierre, NORML Executive Director.
The campaign debates were virtually worthless; totally ignoring the worst public policy since slavery: the drug war! A new courageous administration will lead us in a much needed debate about our drug prohibition policies that have netted us the dubious honor of being the most incarcerated nation in history with 1 out every 99 incarcerated?
Have you ever done a search for violent crime statistics? Or unsolved child murders? Many violent crimes go unsolved every year!
While we police nonviolent social, medicinal and religious drug use murderers and violent sexual predators roam free. Across the US last year 38.8% of the murders, 60% of the rapes and 45.9% of the aggravated assaults became cold case files! The cumulative effect of this is horrendous.
This policy bordering on insanity obviously is not the best use of our limited resources or making our neighborhoods safer. Get tough on violent offenders, drug warriors don't have to look far for something better to do.
A commander and chief of peace will seize this day to return us to our roots; an America with a fierce respect for human rights, that stands firm in rejection of all forms of corruption and challenges anyone who seeks to undermine the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Bring our troops home, make a speedy end to the war in Iraq, and prevent any future war of aggression.
Support our troops in spite of tyrannical leadership. Thank them for their efforts and work to bring them home safe.
The family is far superior to the state as a means of moral development and social control. Imprisoning so many urban black males is discouraging marriage and the formation of families, thus contributing to moral and social breakdown.
Yet black ministers support this policy. The government has bought off black ministers by putting them in charge of Rehab giving them. a vested interest in keeping the drug war going due to mandatory rehab. In the name of justice and humanity, wise church leaders know respecting individual rights and treating drug abusers as patients instead of criminals is the answer.
The National Institute on Drug Abuse says addiction is a genetic disease. Science says all addicts have a genetic inclination and have suffered a trauma trigger. "The drug war in essence is a persecution of tortured children." Drug abuse is a deficiency disease. People don't quit their drug of choice until the body is making the missing chemicals in sufficient quantities.
The Max Planck Institute for the advancement of science has shown that the cannabinoid receptor plays an important role in erasing fear behavior. Researchers hope these findings will lead to new approaches for the treatment of certain kinds of chronic pain, phobias and post traumatic stress disorder.
"There's something called post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which is due to upsetting memories that stay around too long. Normally, when there is trauma people slowly forget it. This is true for humans and it's true for animals. But if the animals do not have an endocannabinoid system, they do not forget bad memories, and this was shown in a paper by a German-Italian group. In collaboration with the Canadian group, we have done some work on that, and in a different model we have seen the same thing. So I expect that the endocannabinoid system is not in good shape in those post-traumatic patients, and chances are that it will work in treating them. We are just about to develop a treatment. People that have PTSD claim that the only thing that helps them is smoking marijuana, so chances are that cannabinoid treatment may help them." Dr. Mechoulam, the first to synthesize THC.
"I think people in this country, when
they see a patient in pain, will not
deny that person a medication just because the drug has abuse
potential," said Dr. John Halpern, a Harvard psychiatrist who is
testing the effect of MDMA - assisted psychotherapy in late-stage
cancer patients. MDMA, LSD and other psychotropics may yet prove to be be
of tremendous value in psychotherapy.
Cannabis oil is that cure all some of our ancestors used! Thank God, they did not let us all be brain washed into forgetfulness about the wonder of it! Oooops they spill the beans, in spite of the oppression promoted by medical profiteers. It is a bigger disgrace than sex in the oval office!
Big business including big pharma and big government have a scandalous mutually beneficial love affair going on! The Constitution doesn't authorize Congress to subsidize industries or grant special favors for particular businesses, Congress will have an impossible time justifying special-interest legislation. Tell Congress to pass the Enumerated Powers Act
Please join the Organic Consumers Fund's Grassroots Netroots Alliance project in supporting the Break the Bailout campaign.
Education is the key to ending drug abuse. "Knowledge will forever govern ignorance..." according to James Madison, the primary author of the Constitution of the United States. "Knowledge is contagious ...so infect truth!" is a successful campaign against tobacco use and could be our guiding light for future fights to save lives and prevent abuse.
In any given drug using population about 5% a year just quit. With rehab about 5% a year quit. Rehab pacifies the drug haters. It works no better than time. It is a scam like most psychiatric therapies. If you are already on the verge of quitting or recovering it might speed the process up a little, if not it is useless and explains why there are so many relapses.
Don't miss National Geographic Explorer entitled Marijuana Nation. NatlGeo journalist Lisa Ling was aghast at the high level of military-style domestic law enforcement for cannabis and her personal commentary regarding what she has seen and believes regarding Americas cannabis prohibition laws is Edward R. Murrow-esque.
Texas has a "necessity defense" which may be used if the person feels that breaking the law is a necessity (medical or otherwise). An Amarillo jury found for a medical marijuana defendant with cyclic vomiting syndrome just a few months ago. Now HB164 relates specifically to medical marijuana giving it visibility and discouraging law enforcement from going after people who have an affirmative defense.
THE ILLUSION OF PROGRESS IN THE DRUG WAR "Building more prisons will not reduce drug use in America. Instead, across America, let's build thousands of down-to-earth education and health programs that can actually help individuals in your hometown and mine make informed lifestyle choices."
Cannabis has been around for thousands of years, researchers recently unearthed the oldest stash so far. The cache of cannabis is about 2,700 years old and was clearly "cultivated for psychoactive purposes," rather than as fiber for clothing or as food, according to the research paper in the Journal of Experimental Botany.
Servants of tyranny support continuing this abomination of a drug war. Servants of the people support reform to a better drug policy that truly makes our neighborhoods safer. Restore justice in America; construct science based drug policies about saving and rehabilitating instead of ruining lives. Allow nonviolent adults to take responsibility for their own choices.
The real cause of this huge quagmire of failed policy is the beast, big government, that money hungry beast, Uncle Sam! Ma Freedom tells it like it is! The beauty of it is when we focus on downsizing our government we regain our roots of self-government and secure the blessings of liberty for ourselves and future generations.
Alcohol drug reformers used the slogan, "Save
the Children from
Prohibition." Support for the federal war on
drugs is inconsistent with support for individual freedom, constitutional
government and the teachings of Jesus.
In the spirit of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. with our Bible and Constitution always close at hand, "We will overcome," drug abuse with compassion, science based education and treatment.
Should Illegal Drugs be Legal? How about Prostitution? "I think the government's role should not be involved in personal habits. When you defend freedom, you defend freedom of choice, and you can't be picking and choosing how people use those freedoms . . .whether it's personal behavior or economic behavior, I want people to have freedom of choice," Ron Paul asserts. He also said we shouldn't treat addicts as criminals. "We treat 'em as criminals rather than sick people, we have pushed a lot of people into prostitution. So prostitution is related to the mistakes we've made in the drug war." Definitely, less poor souls would get stuck on skid row or in prostitution with compassionate policy offering helpful treatment.
Let's allow history repeat itself, repeal prohibition. Gain better control by regulating all drugs like we do pharmaceuticals, tobacco or alcohol. We tolerate the salesmen of these drug gangs that cause more death annually than all illicit drugs.
Regulation and offering compassionate treatment to abusers will seriously cool drug problems. It would freeze the racism and violence triggered by a policy that ignores history and common sense. It would melt the gargantuan iceberg of official corruption and stop cold terrorists' sources of funding worldwide. We want drug laws that don't kill our troops by giving money and power to terrorists.
Science based education & harm reduction is a better drug policy. The truth about drugs will keep our children off them. Sound medical and unbiased scientific knowledge are the most effective moral persuasions. Present policy falsehoods and scare tactics undermine our credibility.
Arresting nonviolent people for making a
safer health choice, cannabis or marijuana, in a medicinal/social drug
is scandalous reefer madness.
If you research it you will find their were
few overdose deaths before
prohibition. Our current policies send the message to our young people that
alcohol and pharmaceuticals are a safer choice, not true!
We are punishing people because servants of tyranny ignore science in naming their choice unwise when in fact it is a scientifically proven safer, wiser health choice, compared to legal alternatives.
Taking children from the homes of parents
who made a
safer health choice in a medicinal or social drug is insane policy.
Taking property from these same, destroyed
by government families, is legalized extortion ! States seized $1.52 billion
in 2007
End asset
forfeiture! We owe reparations to people for all this tyranny.
Many of today's leaders are servants of tyranny, others seem to have minds like concrete; thoroughly mixed up and permanently set. Blinded by the light of billions in tax and lobby money; bleeding leaders, thus corrupted, are blithely unconscious of the societal harm their policies cause. Jiminy Cricket, where is their conscience?
The Bible says, "without a vision the people parish". Our founders' vision of self-government; of an America free of big government oppression and tyranny is the one true patriots still hold dear. 'I congratulate our first African-American president-elect. Martin Luther King, Jr. certainly would be proud to see this day," as Congressman Ron Paul pointed out. No doubt, he and Martin would remind us to hold fast to the dream! You know the one... that revolutionary idea of self government!
Join the Easy Revolution. The web is the fastest growing communications medium in the history of the world. A powerful tool, a window of opportunity, in our war of good over evil; the Internet continues to revolutionize the way we communicate and has enormous potential for reshaping the political process.
President John F. Kennedy warned: Those who make peaceful change impossible, make violent revolution inevitable.
Restore justice in America; construct science
based drug policies about
saving and rehabilitating instead of ruining lives. Warriors can get their
adrenaline rush catching murderers and violent sexual predators. Many of whom
we know are out there, some where. Then our peace keepers will truly be making
our neighborhoods safer.
All major religions believe that life is sacred. Save the Children, just say NO to Prohibition! People of all faiths and goodwill can stand together for a more just, science based and compassionate alternatives to the current senseless policy.
Religious use is cause for rejoicing not incarceration! Willie sings "Let not mankind bogart love!"
LOL!
Happy Holidays!
