The sweet milk of human desire or our consuming passions can destroy us or, as we gain more control, make us stronger. Visualize the all American family at the dinner table. Instead of good healthy foods the fare is our favorite junk foods consisting of starchy, sweet or salty treats, carbohydrate rich, over processed "foods." The drinks are packed with sugar or high fructose corn syrup which contributes to 100,000 deaths per year in the US.

That's the cover picture of Dr. John Newmeyer's book, "Mother of All Gateway Drugs - Parables of Our Time." His epidemiology research at the Haight Ashbury free clinics sheds light on our social and economic disaster, the drug war. "Virtually all of us use substances to achieve desired psychoactive effects."

Lets clear the table of junk food and put a US citizens months supply of the eight substances of abuse, according to Dr. John, on display. He divided overall consumption data by population to illustrate his point.

The first two substances are used for, "sheer pleasure, a gladdening of the spirit". A month supply on the table is a cashew sized pinch of Cannabis (Illegal) and 13 pounds of sugar (Legal). The next two substances are used for, "comfort, pain relief or attitude adjustment". Put 2 quarts of 80 proof alcohol (Legal) and 2 grains of salt to represent heroin (Illegal). The last four substances are used for, "stimulation or a pick me up." Put six grains of salt on the table to represent a months supply of speed (Illegal) and 48 grains of salt to represent the cocaine (Illegal) used and 5/6 of a pound of coffee beans for the caffeine (Legal) and 149 cigarettes for the tobacco(Legal). This visualization plainly shows the mother of all substances of abuse in the US is sugar!

Jack Cole, director of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition says, "Drugs R Us." He remembers Judge Eleanor Schocket, "We will all miss her wonderful sense of humor and her biting whit. She was never shy about stating her views on drug policy or about standing up for people in need. When I think of all I have learned from Eleanor and
all the ways she has touched my life I feel very sad to have lost her."

"There ain't no such thing as justice! You don't put sick people in jail!" Judge Schocket, asked the arresting officer of a "drug offender" who looked like death warmed over, "Can't you find something better to do?"

Can drug warriors who arrest people for cannabis, a safer health choice in recreational or medicinal drug than those legally available, find something better to do?

Considering that across the US last year 40% of the murders, almost 60% of the rapes and about half of the aggravated assaults went unsolved, there is plenty of enforcement work available on these threats to public safety. The horrendous cumulative effect of present use of enforcement resources is becoming obvious. While we police individual recreational and medicinal use of drugs; murderers and violent sexual predators roam free.

Marc Emery, Michelle Rainey and Greg Williams don't deserve prison time. Columnist Ian Mulgrew wrote in the Vancouver Sun: "He is being hounded because of his success. The political landscape
has changed dramatically as a result of Emery's politicking for
cannabis. Emery challenged a law he disagrees with using exactly the
nonviolent, democratic processes we urge our children to embrace and of which we are so proud." Your letters to newspapers that print anything about Marc will help his plea for simple justice.

Prohibition triggers violence in our streets and along our borders. It fuels corruption of public officials and injustice in our courts, "DRUGS-FOR-INFORMATION SCANDAL SHAKES UP NEW YORK POLICE NARCOTICS FORCE"

The Drug War Chronicle, the world’s leading drug policy newsletter offers: This Week's Corrupt Cops Stories. The drug Czar's plan is to blame Chavez for everything because of "Chavez enabling drug flow?" My cousin who lives in Venezuela says Chavez is a man of the people; accomplishing much good for them.

Lately the news reeks of drug war carnage: "Mexico Hits Drug Gangs With Full Fury of War", "Drug operation targets police". Mexican elite soldiers raid police stations searching out cartel links!

The Washington Times reports, "U.S. FACES 'GRAVE THREAT' IN MEXICO'S DRUG FIGHT - What we face is more of a challenge than law enforcement can be expected to cope with," said Kent Lundgren, chairman of the 800-member National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers (NAFBPO). "The best solution is for the U.S. military to assume armed positions along the border ... and use whatever force is necessary to control the border zone." Write a letter to the Editor suggesting the simple, safer solution for society of legalization, compassionate treatment for true addicts, tax, regulate and discourage.

"Since, 1990, law enforcement have arrested over 10 million Americans--more than the entire population of Los Angeles county--on pot charges." Marijuana Policy Project has doubled its offer to $20,000 for presidential candidates Rudy Giuliani, John McCain and Mitt Romney if they can back up their statements opposing medical marijuana with scientific evidence.

Advocates of needle-exchange programs say they are key to reducing
the rates of AIDS and HIV infections, and cut down on the transmission of other diseases such as hepatitis. San Antonio police cited drug paraphernalia charges against three activists who were caught operating their own needle-exchange program.
"These are enormously decent, charitable people, and what's happening with them smacks of persecution," said Neel Lane, one of the attorneys representing the coalition.

Alice in Wonderland doesn't have anything on us, no bragg, just fact. UFLs, Unidentified Flying Lights were sighted by many recently across Texas. My son-in-law, Ike, saw these lights from his backyard in Sweetwater! Observers near the cowboy capital of the world, Stephenville (my home town) made the national news with their accounts. Explanations range from it's a sign of the "End Times" to it was just a reflection distorted by the atmosphere. Chased by our fighter jets? Hmmmmm.

Remember, Dr. John Newmeyer recommends LOL: "Laugh Out Loud - we're happy because we laugh, not, we laugh because we're happy"
